10th Grade Science and Spanish - Forensics
Students are creating forensic file - explaining how evidence is collected, processed, and used to solve a crime or identify a suspect(s) through the process of inquiry. In Spanish, students

Investigation TV episode.
9th Grade Debates
Please check out @LegendEDGE1 on Twitter on Thursday's for the live speaking debates! Watching Freshmen debate politics, the environment, social issues, and arguing with their friends in Spanish is amazing to see! They are doing this due to their Humanities and English Intensive time for their Change Campaign.
EDGE Teachers not at Parent Teacher Conferences
As a reminder, EDGE teachers do not participate in the Legend Parent Teacher Conferences which are scheduled for March 8th.  This would be an opportunity for parents to meet your student’s elective teachers.  If you have questions regarding your student’s progress, please feel free to reach out to your Crew Time Mentor or discuss at Exhibition Night.

The Legend High School EDGE Internship Experience Program is designed to provide students with the opportunity to become productive and responsible citizens of the 21st century. The program enables students to extend their learning beyond the school. It offers an opportunity for students to apply their high school knowledge and skills to a career exploration in an area of personal interest.

Program Objectives
Upon completion of the program, students will become more:
  • Self-directed, self-reliant, and confident learners,
  • Creative thinkers and problem solvers,
  • Responsible citizens,
  • Effective communicators,
  • Collaborative workers, and
  • Knowledgeable about careers and their own career interests.
Freshman will have a three day experience and sophomores a five day experience.  Students will begin this week to send out their initial emails for job shadowing and internships this week.  If you have any questions or concerns about the program or you know of someone who would be able to be a mentor for our students please contact Deb Tawzer at datawzer@dcsdk12.org.

Student Opportunities

Youth Leadership Douglas County
It’s that time of year again!  Time to apply to Youth Leadership Douglas County!
We have changed the program slightly, and are now accepting all high school students into next year’s class.  Any student who will be in high school next fall is eligible to apply for YLDC.  The class will still meet once a month for an all day experiential leadership opportunity during the first year of the program (Government Day, History Day, Finance Day, Media Day, Law Enforcement Day, Health Care Day, Fire Safety Day, etc.).  The second year of the program students will meet for four regular classes, but will also engage in community service in an effort to give back to society and make a difference in the community.

Sophomore EDGE Students Enzo Ewari and Grace Krumwiede are currently in this program if your student has any questions.

Please review and complete the application on-line at YouthLeadershipDC.com
